Full Job Description

In this role you will support Management Accounting, Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis processes as well as Financial Operations and external declarations such as HMRC and VAT returns. The role is a mixture of hands-on but also adding value and supporting the Financial Controller and budget holders at a commercial level.


This is a company of c. £40M turnover and as such we need someone who is happy to support the team at a hands-on level where necessary but also has the capacity to add value through financial information. It is ideal for someone who is interested in supporting a SME scale business.


The Financial Controller has full responsibility for these outputs and you will play an active support role in delivery.


The role will include:


  • Support the ongoing financial management of the business through drafting Management Accounts through journal postings, accruals and prepayments activity.
  • Working with the Financial Controller to set budgets, forecast cash and sales and generally keep an active eye on forward looking finance.
  • Supporting the year-end audit, annual statutory returns, VAT, CIS and other mandatory declarations, you will also work external advisors.
  • Oversight of payroll, credit control, sales invoicing, supplier payments and generally controlling the financial operations activities.

We are looking for someone with an all-round skill-set who can work closely with the Financial Controller on delivering these outputs.


We are looking for someone with the following experience:


  • A hands-on approach and Management Accounting exposure is vital, as this is a small company there will be a need to handle a wide range of tasks.
  • A high level of IT experience including intermediate MS Excel skills will be an important aspect of your experience.
  • The ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and you will be driven, proactive and motivated. Meeting deadlines is what you do.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and lives by the values of integrity, diligence, professionalism and working collaboratively.

We are not looking for the finished article but certainly someone with passion, interest and motivation to help the business succeed.


This role can be based either from the Perth office or the office based in mid-Lothian (near the bypass) and there will be working from home available with this role.
