Full Job Description

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects and is responsible for delivery of a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland. 


About the role

Within the Bus Strategy & Delivery department, focused on delivering and improving Public Transport provision in the west of Scotland, we have a great opportunity to join our Schools Agency Services & Compliance Team.

The role of the Compliance Inspector is to provide a quality assurance audit of SPT related transport contracts by monitoring of operational performance/compliance and by inspection of vehicle condition. This involves observing the operation of transport contracts, Partnerships, traffic regulation matters, travel on services where necessary and visit relevant locations as directed, in the furtherance of such activities.


About you

You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and face to face, with experience in a customer-facing role or in a front-line customer oriented, commercial or operational environment. You must be capable of dealing with high pressure situations and resolving customer and operational issues as well as the ability to work in an environment where a high level of concentration, vigilance and safety awareness is required. You will be a team player, who is reliable, punctual with a flexible approach to working patterns. In-depth knowledge of the Bus network in the Strathclyde area is desirable.


Full time hours will be 35 hours per week working Monday to Friday.  The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements.


You will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. The role includes site visits to other locations and accordingly a driving licence is required.
