Applicants must have MRCP, full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Cardiology or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview. Dual accreditation in GIM would be preferred. You should have extensive training in general cardiology and a specialist interest in advanced echocardiography and inherited cardiac conditions is desirable. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This is an additional substantive post which has arisen due to evolving and increasing service demand. The successful candidate will be responsible with colleagues for the care of both inpatients and outpatients with a range of cardiology conditions and will be expected to provide a full range of consultant services as agreed with post holder and colleagues, and determined by specialty / sub specialty service demand. The out of hours and weekend on call commitment will be 1 in 10, covering the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The week day commitment to CCU will be 1 week in 14 and for the Cardiology wards 1 week in 11.
It is expected that the successful candidate will provide two General Cardiology clinics per week. They will also undertake two imaging sessions per week the main focus of which will be out-patient trans-thoracic echocardiography with the option of performing stress echocardiography or trans-oesophageal echocardiography if appropriately trained. The successful candidate will undertake vetting of GP referrals.
It is also expected that the successful applicant will participate in a new cardiology interface care rota for daytime unscheduled care.
Some flexibility in timing of sessions, taking into account Bank Holidays, prospective cover in colleagues absence, and occurrence of receiving ward rounds, will be required.
