An exciting opportunity due to vacancy has arisen for a consultant neurophysiologist appointment based at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University hospital, Glasgow. You will join a medical team of 5 consultants and 3 specialty trainees.

The Institute of Neurological Sciences has been a world renowned centre of excellence for over 5 decades.  It currently provides Neurosurgical, Neurological, Neuro-anaesthetic, Neurorehabilitation, Clinical Neurophysiological, Oral and Maxillofacial surgical, Spinal Injuries and Neuroradiological in-patient and out-patient services to the West of Scotland region.

The Institute is situated on the same campus as the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for children. The Institute has a dedicated Neuro Intensive care unit and High dependency unit. The Neuroradiology service houses CT and angiography facilities, 1.5 and 3 Tesla MRI scanners and a SPECT service. There is access to a 7 Tesla MRI scanner in the adjacent Imaging centre of excellence (ICE) for research purposes.

The Institute has close links with the University of Glasgow, in particular the Medical School. There is an onsite dedicated Teaching and Learning Centre with lecture theatres, teaching and library facilities.

The post holder will provide part of the integrated inpatient and outpatient clinical neurophysiology service to the West of Scotland. Sessions in EEG, EMG, Video telemetry, Ambulatory Monitoring and Evoked Potentials will be required. Contribution to the established epilepsy surgery MDT will also be required. Experience in intraoperative monitoring and/or intracranial EEG would be highly desirable. Sessions may be offered as appropriate to the service requirements of the department and individual interests of the Consultant.

Out of hours work will involve participation in a 1:5 non-resident on call rota with prospective cover for annual and study leave.
