Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for a Consultant with a special interest in Intensive Care Medicine to join its existing team of Consultants and wider multi-disciplinary team. Applicants from a variety of base specialties will be considered, including Anaesthesia, Emergency medicine, and Medical Specialties.
The Anaesthetics Department is part of the Surgical & Critical Care Directorate, which provides services within a 7 theatre main operating suite and a stand-alone 2 theatre day unit. There is a 10 bedded Level II/III ICU, normally admitting approximately 600 patients per year and 4 Level I surgical beds, admitting over 200 patients per year.
The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of services within a base specialty as well as intensive care medicine. Out of hours work will be intensive care medicine.
The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis (including up to 2 non-DCC) but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. If full-time, up to 2 EPAs may be available to undertake additional clinical activity.
NHS Lanarkshire is Scotlands third largest health board and has 3 Acute Hospitals University Hospital Hairmyres, University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Monklands. All services are currently working to design and realise new models of care for the replacement University Hospital Monklands which will be Scotlands flagship digital hospital, to be built in 2028.
University Hospital Monklands is a district general hospital allowing a varied practice and is also hosts all major ENT, head and neck, and urology cases for NHS Lanarkshire as well as general surgery, vascular access, OMFS and dental services.
Situated in West Central Scotland, University Hospital Monklands is readily accessed from a wide area, allowing commuting from city, suburban and rural locales.
