Full Job Description

From domestic football to Scotland internationals, from rugby to tennis and golf, BBC Sport Scotland will be at the heart of a hugely exciting sporting year across 2024 and into 2025. With the new football season already underway, including full coverage of the SPFL and SWPL and Scottish clubs in Europe, we are already looking towards the domestic and international rugby campaigns and a wide range of other sporting events and personalities, BBC Sport Scotland will serve audiences across digital, television and radio. We are the home of Scottish football with rights to domestic, European and international competitions covering men and women and Scottish rugby. With digital output at the heart of what we do, we are looking to recruit a content assistant to join our staff.,

  • The content assistant will contribute to our coverage of Scottish football and rugby on our online and topic pages, delivering creative and engaging club and national team content to our audiences

  • The successful candidate will be able to deliver content to a first-class standard, thoroughly checked and ready for delivery/publication, aligning with audience needs and expectations

  • They will work with colleagues and at times with external stakeholders to ensure that through collaboration and teamwork we achieve the best quality of work

  • They will be able to propose original content ideas and deliver them to the BBC's editorial standards

  • Responsibilities will also include providing written content for our live text coverage of football and rugby matches, and contribute to our insightful and engaging match reports

  • The successful candidate will also be able to work with the other platforms within the digital team and the sport department as a whole

  • They will be creative, possess an understanding of what chimes with our digital audience and have a passion for Scottish sport

    We are looking for a content assistant with a recognisable journalism qualification

  • The candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Scottish football, its sporting figures and have a passion for story-telling to serve our audiences

  • They will have the ability to write clear and concise copy and contribute to other forms of digital content to a consistently high standard

  • The successful candidate will be able to work effectively under pressure and be able to communicate and collaborate clearly with their team and the other areas of our multi-platform output

  • They will have the resilience and stamina to sustain performance when under pressure from a high volume of work and conflicting priorities, with a flexible approach to deal with a changing environment

    Salary : £24,300 - £28,067 per annum dependent on relevant skills and experience
