Full Job Description

A great opportunity has become available to develop an in-depth knowledge of site-specific equipment as a Control Room Technician and share knowledge with others across the EDF Group, based in our dedicated control room in Eyemouth. You'll be working on a shift pattern where you'll play a pivotal role within the team monitoring and controlling the operation of our NnG (Neart Na Gaoithe) Offshore Windfarm. You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the assets and coordination of our offshore personnel and vessels, working to safely maximise generation., You'll be working with the Control Room Supervisor and Production Manager to operate the Eyemouth Control Room, ensuring NnG Windfarm Operations and Logistics are carried out Safely, on-time and to the required standards.

  • Monitor and control a 450MW offshore windfarm.

  • Coordinate with personnel working offshore during operational and maintenance to ensure safe delivery of all planned and unplanned works.

  • Ensure that the windfarm operates at all times within any Environmental, Health and Safety consent or obligation.

  • Perform safe and controlled release of wind turbines and associated plant for planned maintenance.

  • Respond remotely to turbine alarms and grid instructions.

  • Monitor the offshore HV network.

  • Act as a central contact for coordination in Emergency Response and incident reporting.

  • Conduct planning reviews that require collaboration with contractors on site.

  • Ensure compliance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR), site grid obligations and any other statutory requirements.

  • Ensure asset availability is high and in line with contractual obligations.

  • Compliance with all HSE and Quality legislation, company and any site-specific requirements by the teams and reporting of any incidents to the PM updating and maintaining relevant systems.

  • Work flexibly to provide input into wider offshore wind O&M topics including taking delegated authority on an occasional basis.

  • Identify and target areas in which the site and wider business can improve.

  • Play an active role in supporting the wider business including but not limited to safety, quality, technical competence, operational excellence, wind farm development, OEM, and client interfaces.

  • Represent, when needed, EDF UK in Asset Operations meetings, tradeshows, conventions.

    You'll have experience in a fast moving environment with the ability to multi task and provide clear communication under pressure.


  • Competent in the coordination of contractors or sub-contractors.

  • Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work.

  • The ability to stay calm and apply logical thinking in pressurised situations.

  • Strong organisational and analytical skills to allow delivery of tasks in a logical and methodical manner.

  • Knowledge of the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules or equivalents is desirable.

  • Knowledge of operational offshore windfarms and associated infrastructure (BOP, WTG and OFTO) is desirable.

  • Knowledge of Maritime legislation and standards would be advantageous.

  • Must have strong IT skills with the ability to use Computer Maintenance Management System or similar Customer Relationship Management software proficiently.

  • Ability to build rapport quickly and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
