We are looking for a motivated & enthusiastic individual to join the team.  You would work independently in the kitchen but as part of a team of a senior support worker, support workers and handyperson / driver.  The main role is providing a cooked lunch each day and options of simple baking.  The role requires an understanding of food safety and hygiene and an ability to cook meals from fresh ingredients.  It also requires making basic menu plans for the week and placing orders for ingredients.

Training on food safety and hygiene will be provided.

The hours required for this position would be 10am 1.30pm, Monday to Friday.  There is no weekend working required.

The post holder should be able to work as part of a team or under their own initiative, have good communication skills and confidence in their ability to cook.

Experience is desirable but not essential.

Candidates will be willing and able to undertake the required training for service delivery.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
