Utopian Professional Recruitment are delighted to be recently appointed to work in partnership with an incredible client who are looking to recruit a Corporate Tax Strategist on a full time, permanent basis.


This role within the tax department includes 4 key areas of responsibility:

  • To support the Partners and Directors by delivering the highest level of technical compliance and corporate tax advisory work for our most complex clients. Responsible for seeking solutions and demonstrating technical knowledge to support the partners and the wider team;
  • To review the corporate technical work delivered by the team and liaise with the client managers on their clients;
  • To lead and manage the technical development of the tax team in respect of corporate tax and associated personal tax affairs of the directors/shareholders of the limited companies that they act for, agreeing specific work and learning objectives, formal learning plans and managing all aspects of technical capability;
  • To participate in and seek out business development opportunities. Working with the Partners and Directors to promote the firms tax expertise, targeting clients both internally and externally. Building an understanding of the potential for upselling to clients and developing sales pipelines into intermediaries.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Engenders trust and respect from the client by producing high quality tax advice accurately, delivering to expectations, responding quickly to client demands and delivering to deadlines.
  • Is actively involved in client meetings, concisely and confidently answering client queries.
  • Provides intelligent and creative solutions to client tax issues both reactively and proactively.
  • Working with the Partners, Directors and Client Managers on all corporate tax issues relating to complex transactions e.g. purchases, sales, mergers, etc, with responsibility for planning and performing tax consultancy assignments.
  • Updating internal corporate technical processes & procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with internal procedures including the completion of client onboarding and keeps partners, directors and managers informed of progress on each job.
  • Mitigates risks by involvement of senior people and ensures appropriate advice is sought takes steps to minimise professional risk, including the appropriate documentation of services provided.
  • Agreeing with Partners and Directors which clients year-end tax planning is to be done for, complete the template, decide on the level of dividend & salary levels and prepare dividend vouchers, board minutes. Prepare tax planning letter and send to client, updating control sheet and noting any changes of salaries;
  • Carrying out capital allowance reviews;
  • Preparing & advising on R&D Tax claims;
  • Review client structures and identify potential tax planning opportunities, discussing with the Partners and Directors.
  • Setting review criteria for reviewing of tax computations and advising the team of what is expected;
  • Reviewing complex tax computations, tax projections & tax returns;

To be considered for this opportunity we are looking for the following background / experience:

  • CTA Qualified with demonstrated post experience
  • Current tax knowledge
  • Offer regular exposure to clients
  • Strong initiative with the ability to overcome obstacles and provide workable solutions
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • First class communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong client service focus
  • Commercial awareness

Reward:

  • Hours of Work – Monday to Friday 9-5pm
  • Full Time, permanent contract
  • Core Hours of Work are between 10am to 2.30pm
  • Hybrid Working – 3 days in the office / 2 working from home
