Full Job Description

Granton Youth Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced counsellor to work with young people and adults who are experiencing emotional difficulties. You will work as part of GY counselling provision and part of a wider mental health and wellbeing collaborative. The postholder will offer clients guidance and support through talking therapy to help them gain a clearer understanding of themselves and ways of managing their emotions and stress. The job involves working, within our base and in a schools setting, with people who are experiencing personal issues, to enable them to make appropriate changes. EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS: The postholder must have experience of working with people in a counselling setting and a minimum of HNC Counselling and have, or be working towards, accreditation in their field. Advanced listening skills, strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with a willingness to coordinate/liaise with internal staff and external agencies who may identify or refer potential clients., None specified

Granton Youth, established in 2002, provides opportunities for young people aged 11 – 27 years living within the North Edinburgh areas of Granton, Wardieburn, Royston, Muirhouse and Pilton to engage in youth work, informal education and programmes supporting their involvement in positive activities and learning opportunities. GYC is recognised through its service delivery of open youth work, outreach work, detached streetwork, Counselling, volunteering and schools-based programmes to support and engage our local young people, who actively participate in designing services and programmes we provide.
