Full Job Description
The role of the Criminal Justice Administrative Assistant is to provide administrative
and programme coordination support to the CJ manager.
Duties of the role include representing The Reader at external events, scheduling
meetings, agenda creation, taking meeting minutes, diary management, full
administrative support for specific projects, and working with the CJ Manager in
supporting the day-to-day organization of team and project management.
Responsibilities may include site visits. Delivery cover and/or occasional national
travel.
The role requires a resilient individual who can both assist others and act on their own initiative, using common sense and discretion, while working to tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident speaker
- Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure, to deadline, managing conflicting priorities with a
cool head
- Awareness of the complexity of working within the criminal justice sector and
keen to make a difference within it
- Keen to explore and reflect on problems - able to think for yourself as part of a
team and act with good effect
- Able to work flexibly to achieve objectives
- Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Must be proficient in Excel and willing
to learn new IT skills
- Fully understands the necessity of dealing carefully, and within data protection
legislation, with confidential matters, including handling both personal and
business-critical information
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the work of The Reader and its social
values and have a good understanding of the purpose and social mission of The
Reader.
- Able to communicate The Reader's mission and purpose amongst internal and
external audiences
- Previous experience in delivering high quality work in an administrative role
- Driving license and access to a car
- Knowledge of Criminal Justice and/or Third Sector
- Experience in collating and compiling desktop research, Disability Confident
