Data Engineer/ Power BI Dev | 5 Month Contract | (Inside/Outside IR35 TBC) | Hybrid (Edinburgh) | Starting ASAP

Job Description:
Harvey Nash's Public Sector client is looking for someone to help deliver Scotland's Digital Strategy by supplying internal and external stakeholders with data and reporting services. Robust business intelligence ensures that stakeholders and decision makers have the best evidence on which to base their decisions.
The Specialist Analyst role will provide BI and reporting services for several applications in the platform, which spans multiple areas
The postholder will use Azure cloud database and warehousing technologies to transform and prepare data, and Microsoft Power BI to surface data and reports for stakeholders.
Key tasks will include but will not be limited to:
- Creating and maintaining Power BI semantic models and reports
- Scoping additional project requirements with stakeholders and planning work
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience of designing and delivering Power BI reports and dashboards based on stakeholder requirements
- Strong experience of sematic model design and maintenance in Microsoft Power BI
- Experience of using SQL Server Stored Procedures and triggers.
- Experience of building and maintaining OLAP database and warehousing solutions
- Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
- Experience of cloud-based architecture and deployment (preferably within MS Azure)
- Experience of working both independently and as part of a team, whilst balancing a range of competing priorities
- Experience of leading team meetings, webinars, events and/or conferences online
- Track record of working within project management environments, planning and organising a variety of tasks, including involvement in multiple projects and programmes of work
- Experience communicating complex, confidential and often sensitive information with a range of staff across the organisation and with external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; to plan and prioritise own workloads, and that of your team; and to meet deadlines
Specific skills, knowledge, and training
- Ability to collate and produce reports and statistical information
- Line management skills and experience including coaching and/or mentoring of team members
Desirable Skills:
- Azure Data Factory
- Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Version control in a team setting
- Experience in documentation of systems
- Experience of delivering presentations to large audiences on a local and/or national basis to enhance engagement and collaboration
- Experience of working within a Health, Social Care or educational environment
- Experience of working flexibly in complex/sensitive environments where the parameters of the job are not necessarily clearly defined
- Expertise in accessing, analysing and presenting a wide range of complex information to a range of audiences
