Full Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager in the Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) Chief Controls Office (CCO) Data Led Monitoring & Outcome Testing Team, you'll collaborate with colleagues across the BCB Control Office to support the design and optimisation of data led monitoring.

You'll coordinate the operation and growth of data-led monitoring reports. Working closely with CCO Control Partners and Business Partners to identify and address emerging issues, potential causes, and associated challenges. By analysing data from different sources, you'll offer valuable insights into potential business impacts and poor customer outcomes.

You'll also be responsible for ensuring efficient allocation of testing resources and implementing the team's development framework and coaching colleagues for success, actively seeking opportunities for personal growth, and keeping up with industry trends and regulatory developments.

High Level Accountabilities

  • Provides primary leadership for data led monitoring exception control testing and transactional work, supervising Control Specialists.

  • Works with risk and control owner teams to help deliver against aligned customer, business and strategic outcomes.

  • Analyses and assesses control environment effectiveness using a wide range of sources and identifies potential impacts on the business.

  • Assists the development of the first line control management centre of excellence that supports safe growth and enables high quality customer service.

  • Supports development and implementation of control strategy to monitor and test the design and operating effectiveness of the control environment across business processes.

  • Organises and prepares documentation, while also gathering and summarising data and information, to produce and maintain standardised risk and control process maps.

  • Provides primary leadership for control testing and transactional work.

  • Supports the ongoing development of control tooling solutions to enable the optimisation and automation of the control environment.

  • Supports timely reporting on the effectiveness and performance of controls and compliance through maintaining effective data quality (KCIs), completeness and accuracy of testing and monitoring activities.

  • Assists in the management of actions on operational risk events and breaches following Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA). Identifies issues and then suggests and implements improvements to control environment with guidance from senior colleagues.

    To excel in this role, you should demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Product/Business Knowledge - Broad BCB product knowledge and/or operational expertise in data-led monitoring. Has an in-depth understanding of Consumer Duty and how data led monitoring can provide insight and assurance over whether BCB is delivering good customer outcomes.

  • Control Management - Brings experience in data-led control management and practical implementation. Possesses strong organisational skills to manage documentation preparation. Can provide support for the ongoing development of control tooling solutions.

  • Data & Analytics - Proficiency in comprehending and integrating complex data and information from various sources to facilitate effective problem-solving. Applies strong analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of control environment and uncover potential impacts on the business

  • Reporting - Demonstrates leadership in control testing activity and produces concise reporting outputs on the effectiveness and performance of controls and compliance.
