Working as part of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for the delivery of day care to adults who have PMLD and Autism, consistent with Social Work policies and procedures including assisting service users to meet their needs as detailed in their care plans in a way which respects their dignity as individuals, maximising their levels of independence and promoting their inclusion within the wider community.

 

You should have a good understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism and the ability to: complete care plans; undertake risk assessments; record daily support notes; etc.

 

You must have a person-centred approach with a positive view of the welfare of people and families experiencing difficulties, be enthusiastic and motivated aswell as courteous and respectful in all your interactions with service users, carers, staff with a responsible approach to sensitive information.

 

You must also be able to communicate effectively with service users, carers and other professionals, have a knowledge of common computer IT packages and able to work flexible hours.

 

Possession of SVQ Level 3 in Social Care is desirable whilst the ability and commitment to achieve this is essential.

 

A driving licence and experience of group work are desirable.

 

Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous professional development and improvement.
