Our Defined Contribution Consulting (DCC) Business Unit works with all types of DC Pension schemes to provide advice on investment strategy, portfolio construction and implementation, as well as working with product providers and retail advisors to deliver the latest investment proposition innovation.

This offering is a key component of our consulting services and helps firmly establish us as a UK market leader in this area.

Our diverse client base for these services spans both corporate and trustee bodies across a wide variety of business and industry sectors, as well as local government pension schemes and other public sector clients.

We have an exciting opportunity to join this Business Unit as a DC Consultant , and we are excited to welcome applications for this role.

What will your role look like?

As a Consultant you will be a key member of the DC Business Unit. You'll play an active role in bidding for new business including contributing to new ideas, tender completions, and pitch presentations.

Drawing on your understanding of the DC Market you will provide high quality investment advice for all aspects of our DC Consulting Service to both trustee and corporate clients.

This will include advising on areas such as pension scheme vehicle advice, investment advice, at retirement advice, pension benefit design and provider platform assessments.

Alongside this, for those with an interest in provider research, there is the opportunity to play a leading role in our provider research team.

This would include taking part in the assessment and rating of providers, supporting with the development of related processes and collateral and collaborative working and communication of services across the DC Consulting Business Unit and wider Firm.

  • Relevant experience of working within the Pensions industry, with experience and knowledge of the provider market for DC schemes in the UK;

  • An understanding of DC market including Auto-enrolment, Chair's Statements, Disclosure Requirements, Statement of Investment Principles and Illiquid Investments;

  • Experience of carrying out provider research, review and selection and the transition of clients to new pension arrangements;

  • Strong commercial awareness of the pensions and employee benefits market, and you will enjoy keeping up to date with topical matters arising within this;

  • Some experience of advising on DC provider's investment strategies

  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through your ability to consult and influence successfully with stakeholders;

  • A flexible, innovative approach to developing solutions for our clients and be enthused by the opportunity to solve complex problems for them;

  • The ability to work well as part of a team, and lead by example with a motivational, hands-on approach, including supporting with the coaching and development of junior colleagues within your Business Unit;

  • The ability to work with large sets of detailed data and other forms of information;

  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately.


  • It would also be great if you were FFA / FIA or CFA qualified (or be close to achieving this), preferably being authorised to give investment advice (either following one of these qualification paths or having an alternative qualification / experience).

  • Our preference would be for this role to be based in our London or Birmingham office but would be open to it being based in any of our four UK offices London, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Glasgow.
