Full Job Description
Lochgilphead Joint Campus is recruiting a Depute Head Teacher to take up post on 12th August 2025 and lead school improvement in our High School Department alongside other members of the senior leadership team. The successful candidate will lead on specific aspects of school improvement (negotiable depending on skills and experiences) and will lead a team of faculty Principal Teachers to secure improvements in teaching and learning, well-being, equity and support to ensure ongoing improvements in attainment and positive outcomes for pupils from S1 to S6. We are looking for somebody with a proven track record of school leadership that has led to improvements at a whole school level. A well-developed set of leadership and interpersonal skills will include the ability to plan and work strategically while ensuring effective operational practices are undertaken with a high degree of efficacy and quality. Though focussed on leading in the high school, the successful candidate will be part of the joint campus leadership team and so this is a unique opportunity to contribute to school improvement and outcomes for pupils of all ages. The successful applicant will have strong evidence of professional or academic learning in school leadership and will be a life-long learner committed to continuously using the Standard for Headship to reflect upon, and improve their professional values, knowledge, skills and abilities. - "Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session. In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with Argyll and Bute Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. A link to the guidance sheet will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable."
