Hours: 35 per week
Gilmerton Primary School and The Spinney Lane Nursery School are seeking to recruit 2 Depute Head Teachers with proven experience in driving forward curriculum innovation. Our school and nursery team are motivated and engaged in every experience within a purposeful, respectful and nurturing environment through high quality leadership and management at all levels. We welcome challenge in all aspects of school life and work in partnership with parents, carers and other agencies for the benefit of all learners.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced teacher to join our leadership team. We welcome applications from experienced practitioners who will work to ensure learners develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to demonstrate four key capacities – to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
Gilmerton Primary School is a non-denominational primary school which serves the community of South East Edinburgh and which opened on its present site in 1968. Gilmerton Primary School is organised into eighteen classes from P1 -7 and the current school role is 489. The school is led by a management team of a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher and a Business Manager.

We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who are committed to ensuing all pupils attain and reach their potential.
The successful candidate will:
* Have experience in leading transition in Early Years and/or P7 - S1.
* Commitment to innovative, research-led approaches.
* Be able to support pupils and staff in developing creative approaches towards improving attainment and curriculum design.
* Be a highly skilled practitioner who is able to support, advise and collaborate with colleagues and partner services.
* Have experience of leading a team.
* Have a good working knowledge of GIRFEC and experience of chairing Child Planning Meetings.
* Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
