Disciplinary Proceedings Manager, Permanent, £56,925pa, 35 hours per week It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. We have an opportunity within the Professional Conduct Team for an Disciplinary Proceedings Manager who is a proven people manager and has excellent technical legal skills. This role provides day-to-day operational management to a team managing conduct complaint work before the independent Professional Conduct Sub-committee (PCSC) or Scottish Solicitors' Discipline Tribunal (SSDT) and plays a wider part in protecting the public, maintaining confidence in the legal profession and upholding proper professional standards. - Ensure that prosecutions and appeals to the SSDT and conduct complaints before the PCSC are carried out to a high standard in accordance with procedures, standards, deadlines and key measures.
- Manage and support a team of four people to deliver high performance results.
- Provide high quality legal advice, guidance and support in relation our legal duties and the conduct of disciplinary proceedings.
- Develop and implement improved processes, policies and practices to ensure work is handled efficiently, proportionately and fairly.
- Manage our relationship with external lawyers and law firms who we instruct to support our work.
A Scottish solicitor with a current practising certificate. - Significant experience of at least one of the following: litigation (preferably civil litigation); administrative law; diligence; and or regulatory or disciplinary proceedings.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Demonstrable success in change management and performance or process improvement initiatives.
- Experience of developing and delivering priorities within operating plans which align to organisational strategic objectives.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to understand and solve complex problems.
