Full Job Description

We are currently looking for a Divisional Counsel to be responsible for provision of legal support to our growing Asset Management business. You will join our highly regarded Group Legal Team; based in London.

As part of the Senior Leadership team of the Group Legal function and Executive Management team of Royal London Asset Management, this role will lead a team of in-house lawyers, providing strategic legal advice, guidance and support to Royal London's Asset Management Division.

In this role you will undertake a range of legal activities. You will use your skills and knowledge to support the Asset Management division, and to collaborate and develop key relationships with colleagues across the wider Royal London Group.

About the role

  • Act as Divisional Counsel responsible for business partnering and proactive provision of strategic legal services to Royal London's Asset Management business.

  • Support the Group General Counsel to provide cost-effective legal services to the Royal London Group and develop appropriate skills and capabilities across the Legal Team to enable this.

  • Take responsibility for outsourced legal advice, challenge where appropriate and interpret and communicate external legal advice in a commercial and strategic manner for the Royal London Group.

    Experienced asset management solicitor with a focus on asset management; preferably with experience in-house and of private asset, property funds and CLO's

  • Practical experience covering a wide range of legal matters.

  • Leadership experience at a senior level in a large organisation.

  • Solid awareness of the principles of corporate governance and regulation relevant to the RL Group.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, board members, regulators, customers and partners.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and influence decision-making.
