Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit additional flexible sessional capacity into our team of experienced doctors. The
post holder will join our team offering medical assessments, fit for work assessments, health screenings
and health advice for HealthLink360 clients, who may be adults, young people, or children., You'll join a not for profit organisation with a clear ethos and over 40 years' experience, and which can
provide:

  • We offer a friendly working environment, a fair level of pay and an interesting and varied role., Provision of medical assessments for fitness to work, liaising with our

  • Psychological Services team to produce a joint fit for work report
  • Provision of health screening for short term overseas workers/volunteers

  • through analysis of self-disclosed health questionnaires and remote
    video or telephone assessment of the individual.
  • Provision of remote health assessment for clients unable to attend for

  • face-to-face assessment, including those based internationally.
  • Provision of written reports in a timely manner, making

  • recommendations around health status and any further support required
  • Use of HL360's client management software for all elements of client

  • work
  • Enhancement of client care through communication with other members

  • of our multi-disciplinary team as appropriate
  • Communication with client's GP and/or employing Agency regarding

  • recommendations around health status and support requirements,
    within HL360's policies and codes of practice with regard to data
    protection and client confidentiality
  • Making referrals for follow-up on an occasional basis as necessary

  • Response to emails regarding client work in a timely manner

  • Provision of advice and input to the Medical Co-ordinator and other

  • members of the medical team on issues relating to Occupational Health.
  • Attendance at quarterly clinical team meetings

  • Provision of clinical support to nurse colleagues if required, during

  • sessions worked
  • Contributing to service development as appropriate


  • Key Outcomes
  • Client health assessments and examinations will be carried out to a high

  • standard and in accordance with HL360 policies and protocols, current
    best practice and client needs- one of the indicators being client
    feedback, both structured and informal
  • Face to face assessments will be conducted at our clinic in Carberry.

  • Remote assessments, responding to emails or providing clinical advice to

  • colleagues may be conducted from home where agreed.
  • Clients will be seen punctually for all agreed appointments.

  • Reports will be prepared and distributed within 12 weeks of a client

  • being seen, using HL360 report templates and client management
    software.,
  • Sharing of client health information with any third party out-with HL360

  • will be carried out with explicit client consent and according to HL360's
    policies and protocols on data protection and client confidentiality
  • Informal in-house review will reflect the quality and development of your

  • work with HL360, monitor any CPD achievements and needs identified
    and contribute to annual medical appraisal and revalidation

    We are looking to grow our established medical team of doctors and travel nurses We are particularly
    interested in candidates who already have a background in Occupational Medicine or GPs who would be
    interested in working towards obtaining a Diploma in Occupational Health (DOccMed). We are open to
    applications from candidates interested to work on a sessional basis where hours offered could be
    flexible and agreed on the basis of client demand for our services., As well as having a GMC registration and bringing post-graduate experience and additional postgraduate
    training, we are particularly looking for candidates with a background in Occupational
    Medicine who have completed an Occupational Health qualification such as DOccMed or MFOM.
    Candidates who do not have qualifications or experience in this area but who would be willing to work
    towards obtaining a DOccMed qualification are also invited to apply. We ask that the post holder work
    in sympathy with HealthLink360's Christian ethos and in view of the nature of our work, experience of
    living or working overseas is desirable. Candidates will hold their own professional indemnity insurance
    and cover for telemedicine would be an advantage. We encourage our doctors to have substantial NHS
    positions in addition to their work with HealthLink360., Experience:
  • Extensive post-graduate experience and additional post-graduate

  • training in a relevant specialty such as General Practice or Occupational
    Health.
  • An additional qualification in Occupational Health such as DOccMed or

  • MFOM is preferred. In the event that an otherwise suitably experienced
    candidate is identified, support to acquire an Occupational Health
    qualification may be considered.
  • Suitable indemnity cover, ideally including cover for telemedicine and

  • remote health assessment for those based internationally.
  • Personal experience of travelling or overseas living/ working or an

  • understanding of the range of issues faced by those travelling or working
    overseas, particularly in a humanitarian context

    addition to work with HealthLink360 is desirable.)

  • psychological and travel health support to mission and aid agency workers and volunteers who
    undertake overseas work in challenging and often hostile environments; as well as those who work
    within the UK. Delivered with care and empathy, we provide health and resilience support at every stage
    of an individual's mission, journey or assignment and our vision is for a flourishing and effective global
    caring community who are making a positive difference in the world.

    Embracing our ethos of 'whole person care', HealthLink360 provides a unique service offering a
    comprehensive range of medical, psychological and travel health services both in person, at our Travel
    Clinic at Carberry just outside Edinburgh, and - where possible - online. Our clinic is currently open 3 days
    per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). Regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, our services
    provide support and advice to clients travelling for both work and leisure as well as to those working in
    mission or ministry. Our experienced team (a mix of contracted and self-employed/sessional workers)
    includes doctors, travel nurses, clinical psychologists, counsellors and operational staff. Our clients consist
    of mission and humanitarian agencies and their personnel, GAP year organisations, those in church
    leadership, families, young people as well as members of the general public.

    Hours: Sessional - no fixed hours. (This may potentially be up to 3.5 hours per fortnight,
    on average and dependent on available work.)
    Our travel clinic is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 08.30am - 4.30pm and
    a postholder will therefore have availability for working in clinic during opening
    hours, ideally on Tuesdays or Fridays.
    Place of Work: HealthLink360, Carberry.
    Some remote working may be possible, where tasks allow and with prior
    agreement.
    Accountability: The postholder will be accountable to:
    1. The Medical Coordinator for standards of working practice, agreed
    targets and personal conduct
