An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Support Worker to work within the Caithness Community Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service team, based in Thurso.

This role is to provide person centred care to people who use drugs and alcohol within Caithness under supervision of a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Nurse.  You will be expected to carry out agreed programmes of care as appropriate to support recovery, as well as assertively outreaching people who are identified as at risk of harm.

A driving licence is essential for this post and applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes although a pool car may be available.

This is a fixed term full-time post of 37 hours to March 2026 to be worked in line with service requirements

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
