Job Summary

This temporary post is only available to all permanent and temporary employees and agency workers currently on assignment within East Dunbartonshire Council.

 

Salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours.

Temporary (August 2024 to August 2025) Part Time (0.2 FTE) Main Grade Educational Psychologist £56,511 – £69, 246 Pro Rata INTERNAL

East Dunbartonshire Council is recruiting a part time temporary main grade educational psychologist for one year from August 2024 to August 2025) to be based in Kirkintilloch.

The Educational Psychology Service in East Dunbartonshire Council works in partnership to raise attainment, close the poverty related attainment gap and improve children’s health and wellbeing through delivery of core functions and within the context of continuous improvement. The Service aims to ensure that children and young persons’ voices are central to all planning.

The Service actively encourages and supports innovative and creative practice.  Educational psychologists work across all levels within the authority: from work with children and families to capacity building and strategic implementation. There is a strong focus on linking research into practice and collaborative enquiry to evidence improvement. The Educational Psychology Service actively supports distributed leadership and there are many opportunities to engage in leadership at all levels in the authority.

Applicants will have an honours degree in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society and the relevant post graduate qualification in educational psychology.

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

East Dunbartonshire Council Educational Psychology Service provides high quality programmes of supervision and induction for all new members of the Service.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
