Full Job Description

To be responsible for delivering a range of housing and property repairs and contracts as directed by the Heating/Electrical Manager. To ensure that all works are delivered to the agreed specification to a high standard and within target,resources to be deployed in an efficient and effective manner with all aspects holding up to scrutiny in a transparent and robust manner.

To assist the Heating/Electrical Manager as required and be responsible for managing and delivering a range of housing and property repairs and contracts.

To be responsible for the performance of electrical teams and ensure that resources are deployed in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Liaise with external bodies - such as NICEIC, SELECT, SJIB & SECTT representatives or other registration bodies as and when required

To carry out post audits of other engineer's electrical work as required by NICEIC. Sign off all Electrical Certification as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor on behalf of Moray Council,

Inspect Electrical Installations carried out by Moray Council to ensure full compliance with IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 and that of the NICEIC requirements and standards.

To be responsible for continuous improvement and to know where performance is strong and where there are areas for development and challenge. Address any areas of poor performance.

To ensure that electrical staff provide a strong focus on customer care in accordance with Council policy and ensure that staff place customers at the fore and aim to consider their needs in service delivery.

To support the Heating/Electrical Manager to develop Building Services health and safety policy, procedures and practices to ensure the continued health, safety and welfare of all employees within Building Services.

To ensure that buildings, vehicles and plant under the control of the electrical team are effectively managed.

To undertake training as required and to train and develop staff.

Previous experience in a supervisory/ management capacity of construction/ maintenance operatives.

Understanding of Building Maintenance works.

Appropriate electrical related (technical) qualification to minimum SVQ Level 3 (or demonstrable equivalent experience)

Good organisational/planning skills

Ability to organise effective workforce deployment

Sound contracts management skills

Good working knowledge of a variety of building trades

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

To have sound judgement and work under own initiative

Good communication skills (written and oral)

Ability to quickly adapt to various unpredictable work situations/scheduling.

Ability to work on site within a construction environment

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Building Services team at the DLO, that directly employ over 150 multi trade and specialist support staff. Services provided include building maintenance and improvement services to the Council's 6,300 houses, as well as reactive and planned maintenance to other Council building that includes schools, offices and libraries.
