Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dedicated team running the Electron Microscopy facility at the University of St Andrews. The facility hosts a suite of cutting-edge microscopes, including:
- an aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM),
- a high resolution dualbeam scanning electron microscope (SEM) with focused ion beam (FIB), both W-filament and field emission SEMs, an electron probe microanalyser (EPMA) and a confocal Raman microscope. You will play a key role in the team which runs the Electron Microscopy Facility, including overseeing its day-to-day operations, operating equipment, assisting and training users, performing service work and supporting the delivery of research activities. You will have a PhD which includes significant experience in electron microscopy and ideally be able to demonstrate specialist postdoctoral experience in some, or all, of HRTEM, FIB microscopy, EDX and EELS.
