Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Balfour Beatty Regional Civils business at a time of growth. The Energy Transmission Sector lead who will be responsible for supporting the leadership team and working alongside the Area Teams to develop and implement the sector strategy for Balfour Beatty across the UK. this will include:

  • Developing the Energy Transmission Civils business strategy including the emerging civils energy transmission market, focussing on identification and securing of target opportunities to enhance our regional civils business
  • Being the point of contact for interface with the Power Transmission and Distribution business, stakeholders and area teams across all Win Business activity
  • Supporting project teams with technical understanding of the sector and help guide through engagement, pre-construction and commercial negotiation
  • Driving win business activities for the sector by engaging to influence procurement routes and commercial models, maintain a target opportunity pipeline for the BU strategy pipeline and support conversion
  • Be accountable for the national account management activities by coordinating team interaction to meet relationship goals and maximise collaboration across the group; manage customer expectations & relationships from win business through to delivery, retaining the customer following the achievement of expectations.

  • Lead development of market sector strategy
  • Prepare sector and account plans to translate strategy into concrete objectives, actions and outcomes
  • Lead analysis and evaluation of the market sector to inform our competitive positioning
  • Client development
  • Drive overall pipeline development and conversion in line with agreed targets
  • Be the technical interface across all stakeholders
  • Lead account interface with power BU and for regional civils directly with the customer
  • Develop and expand a sustainable network of relationships across the sector - e.g., with strategic design partners
  • Collaborate with wider work winning team to develop and implement pursuit plans, bids and preconstruction
  • Lead customer satisfaction reviews and implementation of continuous improvement

  • Help develop and support local account teams
  • Develop, coach and mentor customer facing teams engaged in sector activity
  • Thought leadership
  • Coordinate participation with industry events / conferences
  • Work with the PR and Comms team to promote BB in the defence sector including government engagement and media

    Understanding and experience in the Energy transmission sector, with a focus on civil engineering requirement
  • Understanding of procurement routes, commercial and contract terms and negotiation management
  • Track record of relationship development & Management, including influencing customer behaviour
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to simplify the complex and identify a clear pathway
  • Self-starter, resilient, motivated, able to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Developed coaching and influencing skills
  • Understanding of High Value Selling and associated sales process
  • Previous marketing / communications / bidding / account management experience
