Position

An opportunity has arisen for arisen within the Directorate of Transformation and Sustainability for a permanent Engagement Officer.

Hours:

37 per week over 5 days

You will be expected to travel across Ayrshire and Arran with a requirement to work in the evening or weekend on occasion.

What you will do:

Your role will shape the development of staff, patient, citizen and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.

You will play a key role in ensuring NHS Ayrshire and Arran achieves and exceeds its statutory duties and responsibilities for patient and public engagement and involvement.  You must be passionate about involving and empowering people to get involved.

You will work in partnership with staff and stakeholders, both locally and regionally, to support and co-ordinate engagement activity across the health and social care system. This post requires demonstrable experience of engagement and communication methodologies, programme management, with strong communication and organisational skills.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the engagement function and will play a key role in delivering our communications and engagement strategy, working alongside the Engagement and Communication teams.  In addition, you will support the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of engagement strategies - using this insight to inform improvements.

You will identify innovative and creative ways of engaging with our staff, patients and stakeholders and support the team to advise and deliver engagement support to key strategic programmes.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge base, you will have solid experience within an engagement or communications role, with experience of planning, delivering and evaluating stakeholder engagement and communication, as well as knowledge and understanding of emerging new methodologies, including digital media.

You will have highly developed communication and relationship building skills, with strong written and presentation skills; effective leadership, facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills; be proficient in the use of Information Technology and be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Ideally you will have experience of working in the NHS or similar public sector organisation (e.g. local authority/third sector) and a good understanding of the infrastructure of the NHS in Scotland.
