Full Job Description
As an Engineering Category Manager in our Procurement team, you'll lead the development and execution of innovative sourcing strategies that deliver value, mitigate risk, and support strategic marine defence and engineering programmes. You'll help us drive better outcomes by managing critical supplier relationships. You'll be entrusted to:
- Contribute to Marine Engineering strategies creation through to the delivery of business outcomes and performance.
- Leverage supplier, category and market expertise and Serco's third-party Procurement Delivery Partner and key stakeholders to identify opportunities for Serco in optimising value, managing performance and mitigating risk from the third-party supply base for the Engineering category and designated supplier relationships.
- Support the development of global category strategies to a clear and prioritised pipeline of sourcing projects for execution by Serco's third-party Procurement Delivery Partner.
- Lead and manage continuous improvement projects with existing Suppliers.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a holistic and rounded knowledge of a supplier's performance and risk across Serco.
- Monitor supplier risk and performance through reporting tools and business feedback
- Collaborate with Procurement Business Partners to ensure supplier management activities, category strategies and stakeholder priorities are aligned and to drive compliance to the use of preferred suppliers
A strong background in procurement, with demonstrable experience in engineering category management - particularly Marine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). - Proven ability to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and improve supplier relationships in complex and changing environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work at senior levels up to Managing Director and Board level.
- Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, able to identify opportunities and make evidence-based decisions.
- A collaborative, adaptable, and inclusive approach to teamwork and change, with strong communication skills.
