As an Engineering Lead for our Shared Service Lab, you'll lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers, taking accountability for delivery and operational activities. You'll be passionate about technology, both current and future trends, and will look for opportunities to bring these into the Lab, whilst being a role model for your team and colleagues around you.

The role will also involve:

  • Collaborating with Product Owners and Customer Journey Managers to deliver features on the product roadmaps, manage down technical debt, maintain the health of production instances and to create the space to develop the skills needed by the target technology architecture.

  • Engineering solutions to be reliable, scalable, performant, and secure through adequate solution design, utilising endorsed technologies, applying common build patterns, and using established development practices, liaising with Architecture and Technical Communities where needed to drive solution reuse, avoid complexity and creation of point solutions.

  • Taking hands on ownership for unblocking technical challenges and forward look to prove out new patterns and technical solutions ready for full use within your team, lab or platform.

  • Collaborating with Agility Leads to advance the effectiveness of the team by installing change that increases the cadence of delivery, reduces cost ownership, and persists high quality of change. Champion the benefits of a single common framework over team specific practices.

    Effective collaboration and communication skills, able to work and influence across functional boundaries. A broad working knowledge of different engineering and software design solutions across all facets of technology (including DevOps, data, automation, hosting, language, platform choices etc).

  • Experience of navigating a complex systems architecture comprised of modern and legacy solutions, and in-house and product solutions.

  • Experience of leading, mentoring, and coaching teams of engineers, to build a world class engineering capability and a strong team culture.

  • An ability to manage complex delivery, bringing together teams from within and outside the Bank around a shared outcome to deliver successfully.

  • Experience of continuous learning, shown in accreditations, usage of language frameworks, software engineering practices and how they embed in agile working practice. The skilling should allow the candidate to be in the work to give direction and feedback.

  • Familiar with Azure Devops and CI/CD release pipelines. Ability to work with business stakeholders and engineers to break down User Stories into technical delivery. Run engineer estimation sessions and track delivery to provide delivery roadmap, capacity views and timescales

  • Proven experience on Microsoft Azure Cloud Services and development (WebAPI, Keyvault, Application Insights)

  • Experience working closely with senior and junior engineers using .Net development language (C#.Net legacy frameworks and Core, ASP.NET, SQL Server)

  • Familiar with Web based technologies such as ASP.NET MVC/MVP, Javascript & Javascript frameworks, jQuery, CSS, JSON, XML

  • Knowledge on SSIS and migration to Azure Data Factory development of ETL jobs

  • Worked with Azure API Management RESTful web services and Swagger portal

  • Understanding of data modelling and database design

  • Worked with MS SQL Server migrations from legacy versions to cloud managed instance

  • Have experience on the setup of complex job schedules (using cross platform schedulers)

  • Exposure to RPA Tooling - such as Power Automate, Blue Prism, Selenium (desirable)

    WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
