What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Consents and Statutory Engagement Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the Nuclear Reactor (Environmental Impact Assessment for Decommissioning) Regulations (EIADR) consent application for at least two of the Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors (AGR) stations.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure that environmental criteria have been considered in developing the decommissioning strategy that underpins the EIADR consent and planning applications.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure proposed mitigations are communicated and agreed through the internal governance process.

  • Develop and manage the delivery of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) required to support various planning and environmental applications for the decommissioning of the AGR stations.

  • Lead on external engagement with relevant regulators, statutory consultees, Nuclear Restoration Services, and local communities in relation to the EIADR consent and planning applications for decommissioning, including working with external consultants and EDF Communications teams to develop and deliver stakeholder engagement and consultation plans and materials.

  • Manage external consultants to deliver robust EIADR consent and planning applications and effective interactions during the determination process.

  • Manage external consultants in a contract management and technical lead capacity to ensure delivery of programmes in accordance with time, quality, and cost tolerances.

  • Support on the discharge and compliance of conditions attached to the EIADR and planning consents following determination.

  • Acting as a point of contact for provision of technical advice and support to the stations on EIADR and EIA requirements.

If so, this could be the role for you!, You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in environmental science, planning consenting, geography or a related discipline.


  • You will have a good understanding of EIA processes (scoping, assessment, mitigation), environmental assessment methods, and applicable legislation.

    Experience of EIA project management with client-side or consultancy experience is essential.

    You will also have:

  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.

  • Good organisation skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and willingness to ask for help when needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and work effectively within an established team.

  • Ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders including resolving issues and reaching agreements.

  • Ability to manage evidence, documents and records to support a robust audit trail of engagement and effective change management.

    We can offer a competitive salary from £71,101 to £80,380 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
