Scottish Government believes that children must have access to highly qualified staff with expertise in early childhood learning and development. This is particularly true for young children who face the greatest disadvantages where additional support may be required to support our ambition to close the attainment gap.
To support this ambition the role has been developed to ensure that establishments benefit from an additional graduate who will be a teacher or a graduate level practitioner.
This role is supernumerary to the staffing compliment of ELCC’s and is therefore not included in the ratios. To support the implementation of the Raising Attainment Delivery Plan the post holders are expected to influence practice, take small groups of children, provide one to one support as required by focusing on literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing. To ensure positive outcomes for children they will plan exciting learning experiences to motivate and engage children to learn through play, observe and plan responsively to identified need, assess and plan for children’s progress.
This post provides an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our service at an exciting time of development and expansion within the Early Years Sector.
If you have the skills and experience to support the implementation of the Blueprint for 2020 to deliver: high quality Early Learning and Childcare, excellence and equity for all children with regard to the development of physical, cognitive and social skills. This will be delivered through high quality experience for children which complements other early years educational activity to close the attainment gap.
