We are currently seeking to recruit Bank Facilities Porters to join our team in Lawson Memorial Hospital. This post will be based in Lawson Memorial Hospital; however the successful applicants role shall be to provide Porters services to our NHS sites.

The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring high standards of service and cleanliness are maintained in line with local infection control policies, Covid 19 guidance and maintaining compliance with the NHS Scotland National Cleaning Services Specification, and Waste Regulations.

Duties shall include the conveyance of patients by wheelchair, trolley, stretcher bed, or any other means from any ward or department within the hospital to another as directed by the clinical team responsible for the patient, movement of Stores, Medical Gas, Equipment, Inpatient meals and general waste

The post holder will be required to undertake a variety of driving duties and must hold and maintain a full, clean Category B driving licence and demonstrate continued competence, and may be required to drive in inclement weather and/or during unsociable hours. The post holder will also be responsible for care of the vehicle including basic maintenance (fuel, oil, screen wash, tyre pressure/wear, lights, etc.) and completion of relevant documentation.

The department operates seven days a week, including public holidays.

These are bank posts and the hours of duty cover Monday to Sunday on a rotational rota and are in line with the needs of the service but can be flexible.

We offer a full comprehensive induction and training package.

Rates of pay from £12.78 an hour with an attractive weekend working rate.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
