An exciting opportunity has arisen for a B4 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the East Sutherland Integrated Health and Social Care Team.

As an assistant practitioner you will be a key member of the Rehabilitation service and work closely with fellow colleagues and the wider integrated team including reablement. You will work both independently and jointly including performing tasks delegated by senior Occupational Therapists, to deliver rehabilitation to patients with ongoing care needs following injury or illness. You will be based both in the community and within a ward environment depending on whole team demand.

Key attributes for this post include enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge and an understanding of Occupational Therapy in rehabilitation. IT literacy is considered essential for this post. Essential requirements for consideration for this role include a minimum of three years experience working as a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant, or a similar role.  You will understand the role of functional assessment leading into rehabilitation including the process of reablement interventions.  You will have undertaken an SVQ3 or HNC in OT support, working towards completion or be willing to undertake further qualifications. Opportunities for personal development and full training and support for the role will be given. 

A UK driving licence is essential and a pool car maybe available, however, applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes, if required.

This is a full-time permanent post of 37 hours per week, to be worked in accordance with service requirements.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
