Estimator – Civil Engineering
Location: East of Scotland (Fife and Edinburgh)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client, a well-established and highly reputable civil engineering contractor based in the East of Scotland, is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their expanding commercial team. This exciting permanent opportunity involves working on diverse civil engineering projects, with a focus on groundworks packages across multiple sites in Fife and Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Management: Registering, controlling, and efficiently administering tender documentation.
- Engagement: Expressing interest in tender opportunities and maintaining communication with clients.
- Document Analysis: Reviewing tender documents to extract accurate data for pricing.
- Cost Estimation: Developing cost-effective tenders from first principles, pricing works, and analysing risks.
- Package Development: Collaborating with end clients to create practical and detailed packages.
- Project Involvement: Managing multiple projects simultaneously, from pricing to submission.
- Reporting: Preparing tender submission documents, detailed estimating reports, and following up on submitted tenders.
- Site Visits: Conducting on-site assessments to gather data and measure project-specific areas.
- Collaboration: Maintaining regular communication with management and site teams to ensure project alignment.
Candidate Profile
To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Experience & Expertise:
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience in estimating within the civil engineering sector.
- Significant experience with civils groundwork projects and expertise in first-principle estimating.
- Skills:
- Strong commercial acumen with exceptional organisational, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Excellent time management and planning skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with estimating software.
- Mobility: A valid UK driving licence is essential.
