As a Farm Reporter, you will be our eyes and ears on the ground, capturing the stories affecting Scottish farming and helping readers understand the industry and community they live in. We are looking for a motivated farm journalist who knows agriculture and can connect with readers.

As a Scottish Farmer journalist in our news team, you will cover all the important issues affecting agriculture today. From the latest on-farm technology to revolutionise food production to real life stories of farmers in their field. Working as part of a team, you will travel across the country to bring the latest news for our readers at various events, shows and on-farm visits.

Suitable candidates will offer:

• Experience and understanding of the farming sector.

• An understanding of print and digital journalism, with 

a vision of what farmers want and need to read about.

• Strong written skills with an ability to work as part

of a team.

• Driving licence

Desirable attributes:

• A network and connections within 

the agricultural sector.

• Experience working as a journalist 

or a journalism qualification.

• An understanding and interest in the Scottish pedigree cattle and sheep sector

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing written articles for the paper 

and online.

• Attending events on behalf of The Scottish Farmer.

• Generating original content on the issues important to readers.

• Supporting The Scottish Farmer’s social media activity.
