Hours: 35 hours per week

Working Pattern - Monday -Friday - 7 hours per day.

Who we are Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

What we do Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for both North and South Lanarkshire Council areas in respect of the compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists, and Register of Electors.

Our aim To provide high quality, effective and responsive services to all of our stakeholders

You will undertake the survey and valuation of all lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts, for non-domestic rating and the Local Government Finance Act 1992, for Council Tax. You will undertake and manage a portfolio of survey work. You will undertake the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the Local Valuation Appeal Committee and, when required, appear as an expert witness at Hearings before the Committee. You will maintain all property files to an appropriate standard by writing survey reports, drawing plans and calculating areas. You will have a good understanding of non-domestic rating and council tax. You will have effective communication and IT skills. You will have a positive, professional and responsible attitude and the ability to multi task whilst ensuring strict deadlines are achieved. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various locations within North and/or South Lanarkshire to meet the operational requirements of the service. Due to the widespread geographical nature of the area this is usually undertaken by car. You will be eligible to participate in South Lanarkshire Council’s Car Pool Scheme and it would be advantageous to have access to a vehicle for business purposes if required to travel to alternative locations.
