Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join Zero Waste Scotland. The Finance Business Partner Role works hand in hand with operational teams to provide support, insight and guidance that drives better decision making and ensures that Zero Waste Scotland can maximise the impact of its resources. The role will also oversee the effective operation of some key financial processes and controls, supporting efficient and effective compliance across the function. 


The role reports into the Finance Manager and is an important part of the Fiannce team.

We want you if;

You are a Part Qualified (PQ) or Qualified by Experience (QBE) accountant

Have a high level of numeracy and analytical skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders

Experience of using financial management systems and accounting software

Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of software with intermediate capabilities in Microsoft Excel

Excellent attention to detail and proven track record of accuracy

Previous experience in a similar role.

Assisted with the development of financial information systems.


What you'll be doing;

Supporting business areas by acting as the bridge between finance and the organisation, delivering insight, improving understanding at all levels, and driving better decision making.

Support operational teams to develop robust, evidenced based budgets in a timely manner that are underpinned by clear and reasonable assumptions and fully aligned to the organisation operating plan

Lead on budget variance and re-forecasting analysis and presents a clear understanding to key stakeholders of the key business drivers and associated financial risks, driving appropriate and timely management

Support the value for money agenda, working closely with the Project Management Office to better align investment and project outputs and acting as a critical friend to operational teams by challenging how value for money is being delivered.

Responsible for various month end processes, peer reviewing on standard tasks and leading on the some more technical or complex areas

Supports operational teams with key financial tasks such as business case development, scenario planning, longer term financial modelling and analysis of new funding opportunities

Support the finance manager with the development and implementation of continual improvement of financial management across the organisation

Undertake other related tasks as may be determined from time to time driven by the needs of the organisation, and help provide critical skill cover to other roles within the department
