Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to bring to market this rare opportunity to join a Not-For-Profit organisation based in Edinburgh as a Finance Manager, on a part-time (0.6) basis. This is a new role and a permanent opportunity offering hybrid working and a fantastic mix of strategic and hands-on financial management responsibilities. The Job Opportunity

As the Finance Manager, you will lead all financial activities, providing a solid foundation for the organisation's operations. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll deliver critical financial insights, support strategic decision making and ensuring the organisation's financial resilience and compliance.

Responsibilities will include;

Financial Reporting and Audit

  • Lead the preparation of financial deliverables including monthly / quarterly management accounts, annual budgets, reserves statements and posting journals on Xero
  • Provide strategic financial insights to the leadership team, supporting 3 to 5-year budget planning
  • Deliver monthly operational reporting packs with variance analysis
  • Oversee the annual audit process and manage relationships with auditors and contractors
  • Chair Finance and Audit Committee meetings, including preparing papers and maintaining the risk register
  • Ensure compliance with OSCR reporting requirements

Financial optimisation

  • Develop and maintain a financial dashboard to support decision making
  • Financial analysis and modelling of opportunities to further the organisation's cause
  • Identify cost optimisation opportunities and oversee project cost control
  • Monitor cash positions, forecast funding needs and provide strategic recommendations
  • Enhance financial processes to promote governance and efficiency

The Candidate

You will be an individual with proven experience in financial management, including budgeting, audit processes and financial controls. You may have experience in a Not-For-Profit environment but equally candidates with strong commercial experience would be welcomed. You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights. Proficiency in Xero and financial reporting tools is highly desirable. You will have excellent organisational and leadership skills and a pro-active and collaborative mindset. You may be a qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) but candidates will relevant experience will also be considered.

Above all, you will be a versatile individual, adept at balancing hands-on responsibilities with strategic initiative, while collaborating effectively with a diverse range of key stakeholders.
