Full Job Description

SCOTTISH AMBULANCE SERVICE

National Headquarters, Edinburgh

Finance Officer

Fixed Term or secondment opportunity (1 year)

Full Time 5 days per week

We are currently seeking to recruit a full time Finance Officer on a permanent basis for our busy finance team based at our National Headquarters in Edinburgh.  We are currently reviewing working practices around remote working and it is likely that we will accommodate a flexible working pattern.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Financial Services Team where you will be responsible for the debt management, including viewing sales ledger, issuing reminders, customer statements and liaising with Central Legal Office on longer term debt.  Duties will also include preparation of monthly VAT Returns, analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and assisting in the administration of insurance claims.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge of how a finance/sales system operates to enable you to undertake the role, as well as NVQ/SVQ Level 4/AAT technician level or equivalent experience.

You will be able to find solutions to problems that arise using your own initiative, knowledge and experience.  Applicants will be able to work in a busy office environment, and should be able to prioritise their workload according to deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and financial systems experience are essential for the post. Previous experience of working within a finance team of a large organisation would also be an advantage.
