Location: Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen
Duration: Fixed Term, Full Time
Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,284 per annum / £16.64 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job Purpose/About the role:
The post holder will undertake a range of financial tasks to support the accurate financial controls of the council. The post holder will work within established processes in system operations, reconciling, maintaining & updating financial records to provide an accurate and informed financial support, in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
Must have experience of working in a financial environment
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- Standard Grades or equivalent
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to communicate with all levels of staff/clients both orally and written
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Office experience of a financial nature
• Proven prioritising skills and ability to work within a team
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Computer literate (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
• Capability of operating financial systems and reporting packages
• Numerate with ability to calculate and interpret financial information
• Proven communication skills both orally and in writing
• Ability to create confidence in own ability with customers and colleagues.
