The Finance Worker/Bookkeeper will assist our small team with day-to-day processing, bookkeeping and management accounts preparation for our organisation. They will support production of financial reports for funders and monitoring purposes and will assist the wider team with anything finance related as necessary. 

Our turnover in the past few years has been around £250,000. We outsource payroll to Glasgow Council for Voluntary Services so this does not form part of the role. VAT calculations are undertaken by our accountant. We run our bookkeeping through Xero.


This role is 7 hours per week. Preference for Friday however hours can be agreed. Continuation of the post is dependent on further funding. The role will be based at our workshops and gardens at 15 Fairley Street, Glasgow.


This role is for you if:

  • you are good with numbers  
  • you are systematic and methodical;
  • you are organised and have experience of bookkeeping software;
  • you share our values and want to contribute to a small charity working for a just Scotland. 

Essential for this role:

  • Well rounded and competent financial experience.
  • Excellent bookkeeping and accountancy knowledge. Good knowledge of Xero preferred (training will be provided)
  • Experience of working with spreadsheets and Excel
  • Computer literacy: Excel/Word
  • Ability to work as part of a team, understanding the importance of good relationships at all levels within the organisation.
  • Great organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities.
  • Amazing communication skills
  • Flexibility to respond to tasks as organisation needs/requires.
  • Conscientious 
  • Open and frank….and able to share mistakes/challenges as part of problem solving approach
  • Meticulous with high capacity for attention to detail

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector and requirements of funders etc
  • Experience of working in different sizes and types of organisations would be helpful
