Full Job Description
One of Scotlands leading Fleet leasing organisations is looking to add a Financial Controller to their flagship Edinburgh office. The firm has over 20 years of experience within the industry and has ambitious growth plans in the coming years. They are looking for the Financial Controller to lead the finance function internally and ensure the department runs efficiently, as well as being able to scale up as the business grows.
This is a key hire for the business and the successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director as well as managing key relationships both internally and externally.
The firm itself has an excellent reputation within their industry and offers a range of services such as fleet leasing, salary sacrifice schemes, driver services, fleet electrification and Fleet management among others.
The role offers scope for progression and the successful candidate has the chance to really build out the finance function as the business grows. The position would suit a commercially driven finance professional who can bring new ideas to the business.
Responsibilities
A wide range of duties from board reporting to routine transactions
Production of accurate and timely management accounts to monitor performance across several commercial activities
Maintain financial forecasts and supporting board discussion around potential scenarios
Working with colleagues to identify, implement and document processes that are key to company efficiency and scalability
Introduce and maintain financial quality control over operational activities
Raising customer invoices for a range of revenue streams including vehicle leasing commissions, short term car rental and recharging costs
Posting supplier invoices both cost of sales and overheads and coordinating approval by relevant managers
Work with the senior leadership team on the continual process of the businesses strategic plan to ensure the financials align with the business goals
Managing supplier invoices due for payment
VAT returns and other HMRC reporting
Manage compliance and ensure high-quality standards
Other reasonable finance and office tasks as required
The firm uses the accounting software Xero and Salesforce for managing operations. Experience of both would be highly beneficial
Experience of managing accounts receivable including direct contact to resolve issues
Experience working with and managing relationships with Senior and C Suite Stakeholders
The ability to distil information accurately from multiple sources
The confidence to recommend and implement process change
A key focus on accuracy and attention to detail, which are viewed as more important than speed with the business
A self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised
Non-standard VAT rates apply to some transactions and relevant experience would be helpful but not essential
