Full Job Description

Role: Fire Safety Officer
Location: Glasgow, with travel to customer properties across Glasgow and the West
Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary: 39,101 per annum
Contract: Temporary - 4 week

We are looking for an experienced Fire Safety Officer to join our client's team on a temporary basis. This role will involve visiting customer properties across Glasgow and the West, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and promoting best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review existing fire safety risk assessments and develop a structured programme for future assessments.
- Conduct fire risk assessments tailored to each property's unique hazards, activities, and use.
- Inspect communal areas and shared spaces to ensure they are free from fire risks and obstructions.
- Provide advice and recommendations on minimising fire risks and escalating serious breaches of fire safety.
- Collaborate with front-line staff to identify any alterations that may compromise fire safety in dwellings.
- Support managers, staff, and contractors in meeting statutory fire safety obligations.
- Promote fire safety awareness among tenants, including encouraging participation in home fire safety checks provided by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
- Maintain comprehensive records of fire risk assessments, actions taken, and safety issues.
- Produce reports related to fire safety incidents, risk assessments, and the actions taken.
- Stay updated on the latest fire safety regulations and advise management on necessary changes.
- Develop and deliver practical and theoretical fire safety training to staff and tenants.
- Attend governance events and tenant engagement meetings to discuss fire safety issues.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

- Proven experience in conducting fire risk assessments and recommending risk control measures.
- In-depth knowledge of Fire Safety Legislation, modern fire alarm systems, and fire strategies.
- Experience in providing fire safety advice and writing comprehensive reports.
- Ability to influence and persuade others to follow fire safety practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with tenants.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and develop effective working relationships.
- Experience in handling sensitive situations and finding solutions to safety concerns.
- Ability to analyse fire incidents and develop preventative measures.
