General Manager

Central Taxis in Edinburgh is the city's largest and most reliable black cab company, offering a wide range of services to its customers. As Scotland's first and only Carbon Neutral taxi company, we serve both private clients and corporate groups.

A General Manager is required to join our team in order to take on a variety of responsibilities.

The Role

General Managers are responsible for all departments, including Accounting, Business Development & Account Management, IT, and the Call Centre located west of the city. It is a challenging and varied position with around 45 full-time and part-time employees.

The General Manager will report directly to the Company Chairman, who is assisted by four other directors.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruiting, training, developing, reviewing, and disciplining employees
• Management of our premises and equipment
• Management of ISO9001 & 14001 processes
• Liaison with clients and management of major accounts
• Documentation and management of formal tenders
• Administration, billing, and debt collection supervision
• Managing supplier relationships and controlling costs
• Working with the Call Centre staff to maximise delivery versus cost
• Reviewing management accounts, setting and managing forecasts and budgets with directors

Skills and Experience:

• General Management of a small to medium sized business with at least 10 staff
• Management of a Sales & Marketing team
• Involvement with client relationships at a senior level in large Corporate and Public Sector environments
• Budget (profit & loss) responsibility and understanding of management accounts
• Management of suppliers and outsource partner relationships
• Experience of formal quality systems (ISO 9001, 14001)
• Producing and working to a business plan
• Demonstrable track record of delivering business improvements
