Clinical Co-ordination Nursing Team
A new and exciting opportunity is available to join the Clinical Coordination team within the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People, NHS Lothian and we are looking for passionate, caring, motivated Health Care Support Workers to join our highly skilled nursing team.
The post holder will support the delivery of high quality, easily accessible, timely, clinically effective care; in collaboration with colleagues, carrying out both clinical and administrative duties.
The Clinical Coordination Team are responsible for dealing with site management issues in the first instance, including staffing, bed management and resource allocation.
The post holder will undertake a mix of clinical and administrative duties to ensure timely patient care and appropriate patient flow throughout Childrens Services.
This team operates 24/7, 7 days a week. The successful candidate must be able to work a combination of days, nights and weekends
Clinical Duties
- To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal/no supervision, including for example, blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, collection and testing of urine samples/faecal samples/sputum samples and wound swabs ensuring delivery of high quality patient care at all times.
- To carry out/administers simple dressings using both sterile and non sterile techniques, as per Treatment Plan.
- To undertake venepuncture procedures and remove cannulae in a safe manner in order to reduce any risk of infection.
- To take swabs without supervision from patients to test for various infections such as MRSA.
Administrative Duties
- To carry out a range of administrative duties with no supervision including for example monitoring of off duties, eRoster, and SSTS, maintenance of allocation sheets and monitoring staffing levels within Childrens Service.
- To accessing patient information and results on Trak, monitor Hospital@Night Workbench, monitor and support patient flow and order Taxis (for specimens, patients, staff etc).
- The post holder will be responsible for the documentation of staff absence calls and allocation of parent accommodation in the absence of the Family Support team.
