Salary: Commencement: £23,540 per annum

Upon completion of Year 1 university studies, salary increases to £25,588 per annum

Upon completion of Year 2 university studies, salary increases to £27,040 per annum

Upon completion of Year 3 university studies, salary increases to £29,583 pper annum

Upon completion of Year 4 university studies, and Honours Degree salary increases

to £38,473 per annum

You'll gain the skills you need to excel at Robert Gordon University and Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland (ICAS), that you then can apply directly in our Glasgow office, working on projects that make a real impact.

Job Overview

From day one you will be adding real value to our business within our Finance department while also starting your studies with Robert Gordon University. This 5-year programme will ensure you have the best possible start in your finance career and your journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant.

As a Graduate Apprentice in our Finance Department, you will:

* Assist with various activities across the Financial Accounting function.

* Assist with the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.

* Learn to perform financial reconciliations.

* Learn how to investigate variances and assist with period end reporting.

What can you expect from your apprenticeship?

As a Graduate Apprentice, you'll benefit from a comprehensive programme designed to support your development both academically and professionally:

* 5 Year Apprenticeship within the ScotRail Financial Accounting Team.

* Study and achieve a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, in partnership with Robert Gordon University (RGU), in Accounting (Years 1-4).

* Study and obtain Chartered Accounting Qualification via ICAS (Year 5).

* Rotate through several key finance functions, gaining practical experience including working capital, reporting, planning and analysis, fixed asset and project accounting, and technical accounting.

* Receive continuous support and guidance from a dedicated workplace mentor and the ScotRail Workforce Development Team.

* Follow a comprehensive development plan throughout the duration of the programme.

What are we looking for?

Due to funding criteria, this apprenticeship is open to people aged 16 to 24, and people up to the age of 29 who identify as having a disability or who are care experienced. Whether you're coming straight from school, further education or are already in employment, we would love to hear from you.

Applicants should have:

* Qualifications at SCQF Level 6 (or above) typically demonstrated by holding four Scottish Highers at grade B or above (including Maths). Other acceptable qualifications include Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships, SVQs/NVQs and National Qualifications (NC, HNC/D).

* An interest in working in finance and complete studies to become a qualified Chartered Accountant.

* A willingness to travel to Robert Gordon University as and when the university require.

* A willingness to complete a 5-year Graduate Apprenticeship.

* A willingness to attend regular reviews to discuss your progress and development.

* A willingness to attend internal and external training and taking responsibility, with support, to collect the evidence required for your qualification/portfolio.

Selection Process?

* Submit your application – be sure to spend enough time on it, taking your time to explain why you would like to be a Graduate Apprentice in Accounting. Research the role before applying and check your application for any errors before you submit it as well.

* If successful, the next stage will be an interview.

* The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical questionnaire and Disclosure Scotland. You’ll then be asked to provide at least 2 satisfactory references. At this point you’ll be welcomed on board.
