Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be a key member of the organisation's creative team, responsible to the Marketing & Communications Manager, CEO and the Board of Directors., The Camanachd Association, as the governing body for shinty in Scotland, faces an increasingly digital landscape where effective online presence is vital for engaging with members, promoting the sport, and attracting new participants. A Graduate Digital Officer would bring contemporary expertise in video creation and editing, digital marketing and website development to enhance the association's digital footprint. With the majority of communication and engagement happening online, a dedicated officer can ensure consistent and targeted messaging across various platforms, amplifying the association's reach and impact., Work as part of the creative team to:

  • Assess the current digital presence of the Camanachd Association, including social media platforms, website functionality, and online registration systems.

  • Film, edit, upload and publicise (Live Stream, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube then shorter clips on TikTok and Instagram Reels) regular shinty matches and post-match interviews.

  • Deliver training to clubs on how they can develop their in-house media presence with a focus on filming games.

  • Develop an in depth understanding of the Association's Membership system (JustGo).

  • Develop new video-based marketing ideas such as a "Goal of the Month" competition using footage garnered.

  • Explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborations with other organisations.

  • Create high quality media content for the end of season awards using the AI camera footage.

  • Enhance the functionality on the fixtures pages from the website. This will include aligning aesthetics with the main website, enhancing functionality to include AI Camera footage for specific matches and the development of statistic tracking.

  • Support the Marketing Manager with the creation, editing and design of key digital materials such as Matchday Programmes and the Shinty Yearbook.

  • Support the Marketing Manager with the continued creation and editing of the Half-Swing Shinty Podcast.

  • Work with clubs, Camanachd Association staff, relevant local authorities and other partners to contribute to the development of shinty through the sharing of best practice and resources.

  • Provide progress reports as required, plus recommendations for future improvement upon request.


  • General responsibilities include:

  • Support the development, promotion and delivery of the CA's annual programme of major events, including Cup Finals, National Development Camps. Regional, District and National Age Group Squads, National Age Group Festivals etc.

  • Any other duties as may be delegated.

  • Profiling shinty through Camanachd Association social media channel, website and other publications on a regular and proactive basis.

    Educated to undergraduate standard.

  • Current valid Driving License.


  • Qualifications and attainments - desirable

  • Degree in Filming/Video Production or Marketing.

  • Gaelic language fluency, (In an employed or voluntary capacity)

  • Proven experience of managing projects

  • Understanding of the Camanachd Association, our values and the role of Sports Governing Bodies.


  • Work and Other Experiences - desirable

  • Knowledge of shinty.

  • Familiarity with live streaming platforms and techniques to broadcast shinty matches in real-time.

  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to create visually appealing graphics., Proven leadership, teamwork and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills

  • Ability to manage a busy workload effectively to meet set deadlines.

  • You will have strong written and oral communication skills; able to draft accurately and concisely with an eye for detail and presentation.

  • You will need to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, ability and confidence to communicate with people at all levels, including senior management, affiliated clubs, members and volunteers.

  • Familiarity with video recording equipment, including cameras, microphones, tripods, and related accessories, as well as basic troubleshooting skills to address technical issues on-site.

  • This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where applicable, this post also requires an Overseas Criminal Record Check.
