Full Job Description

Our Graduate Scheme is designed to give you a positive start to your career in local government. You will mainly be based in our Fairer Falkirk Team and Revenues and Benefits team in the Forum and the Foundry, but as a Hybrid Worker will also work from home. You will provide support and assistance to both teams, with a focus on helping us use our data as an effective tool to achieve our strategic objectives in tackling poverty. This will include using data to identify gaps in individual's benefit entitlement and taking action to improve take up of support. You will gain experience in a range of work areas such as:

  • Mapping relevant data we and our partners hold
  • Connecting data sources to form a more complete understanding of poverty in our communities
  • Using data to understand who is accessing our services and where, and who needs our services but is not accessing them
  • Proactively using data to target information and services to those in need of support
  • Evaluating the impact of our interventions to understand if they are making the difference we expect them to
  • Using data to inform the planning and delivery of future interventions
  • Supporting teams to use their data more effectively

    You will have an HND or above in a relevant subject and should have an understanding and awareness of poverty and its impact on our society.
  • You will communicate with internal services, outside agencies and the public. We look for core skills for all our graduate posts which are:
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Organisation skills
  • Project management experience
  • Report writing experience
  • Team working experience
  • Computer skills including use of Microsoft 365, and in particular Excel
  • Ability to use your initiative and organise your own workload
  • This could be gained through volunteering, internships or student honours projects as well as from previous employment. We are also looking for you to have:
  • Good data skills, including the ability to integrate data from a number of sources, analyse it and present it visually
  • Problem solving skills
  • Evaluation skills
  • Some experience working with Power BI
  • For our graduate scheme, it's desirable for you to have graduated in the last 2 years.
