Full Job Description

This is a full time, permanent opportunity and you will be joining a knowledgeable and talented team within one of the UKs leading ground investigation companies. This role requires no previous experience in the industry as you will receive extensive training in all aspects of ground investigation projects to get your career off to the best start. As part of your development, you will be trained to assist and lead the delivery of geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects throughout Scotland and the UK and will learn the technical, commercial and site management skills required to progress your career whilst working in a friendly and professional environment. This position is open to newly graduated individuals or people with up to 2 years industry experience who wish to join Structural Soils renowned graduate training programme.,

  • Assisting with office-based duties and on-site ground investigation projects across Scotland and the UK to gain experience in all aspects of ground investigations.

  • Learn the skills required to complete your work with due diligence, adhered to the company procedures & completed within the given cost budgets and time scales agreed.

  • Good communication is required to liaise with other project staff and the client to best deliver our projects.

  • Supervising and completing intrusive ground investigations involving multiple techniques including sonic, rotary, cable percussion and window sampling boreholes, geophysics, trial pits amongst others.

  • Soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including laboratory scheduling.

  • Willingness to learn how to collate geotechnical data using the latest industry software and write reports for external clients within stringent internal protocols.

    Previous site work experience is an advantage but not essential as full training is available

  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Earth Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Geoscience or a related environmental subject is essential

  • An MSc in a related subject is desirable but not essential.

  • Willingness to learn geotechnical soil and rock logging.

  • A desire to become a key member of the local and national team of engineers through demonstrating excellence in their work.

  • Full UK driving licence essential
