Group Accountant

Morgan Hunt Scotland is currently recruiting for a Group Accountant on behalf of a housing association based in Aberdeen.

The Group Accountant will play a key role in the finance department with responsibility for financial management of the subsidiary companies and providing a high level of financial advice, support and management.

The Group Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for one direct report.

Key responsibilities for the Group Accountant

• Financial management of the subsidiary companies, including preparation of Accounts, annual accounts for audit, annual budget and financial projections
• Attend subsidiary board meetings, present reports and provide expert advice and manage the financial requests from the Boards.
• Manage and oversee the financial aspects of the new development programme, including preparing financial appraisals.
• Support the Finance Manager by assisting with the group annual audit preparation and other relevant tasks.

Experience and skills required

• Fully qualified Accountant CCAB recognised or CIMA qualified is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years' experience in a senior finance role with experience in management and implementation of new financial systems
• The role requires an experienced accounting professional with technical accounting skills and working knowledge of accounting standards and UK GAAP.
• The preferred candidate will be highly literate with strong numeracy skills with the ability to engage with key stakeholders and present financial information.
• The preferred candidate will have a good understanding of the tax environment for charitable organisations and VAT within a partially exempt business.
