Full Job Description

We're looking for an in-house Communications Manager to work alongside our Head of Communications, Employee Engagement Manager and Graduate Communications Officer. We're a small team delivering for a leading family-owned construction, infrastructure and facilities management business, telling the stories, and driving campaigns that bring to life who we are and our work across the UK.

What you'll do:

  • Identify opportunities to showcase and celebrate our business and project successes, and build awareness of our company and strategic aims.

  • Develop a solid understanding of our internal and external audiences, and use this to tailor communications activity for maximum impact.

  • Work to the highest standard, ensuring content is engaging, on brand, accurate and approved by stakeholders.

  • Write communications in various formats, including executive presentations, speechwriting, blogs, social media posts, conference materials and presentations.

  • Work across all areas of our business to build positive relationships and generate new ideas for internal and external news.

  • Support key internal stakeholders on media messaging and event presence.

  • Possess tact and sensitivity working with confidential information.

  • Deputise for the Head of Communications when needed.

    Minimum 5 years' experience in agency or in-house.

  • Proven experience in a multi-disciplinary communications role.

  • Demonstrable skills in proactive external communications alongside external reputation and crisis management.

  • Experience and knowledge of external and internal communication and/or engagement strategies and implementation approaches.

  • Excellent copywriting, storytelling and editing skills.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with a range of business teams.

  • Experience building strong relationships with trade media, as well as national business journalists.

  • Proficient on all relevant software packages including Office 365.

  • Full UK driving licence.

You'll work as part of a wider team and under your own initiative and be able to accept challenge and take personal responsibility for your own performance and flexibility is key as no two days will ever be the same.
